Ok, todays post is juz a crap... while reading my Microb note:P

Yeast is a unicellular, Ascomycetes class, spherical/oval/cylindrical shape. Asexual through budding. Some yeast form filament (usually yeast infection) tht may give rise to YM shift (dimorphic form. sexual reproduction= 2 cells fused n form a zygote n develop into ascospore. habitat rich in sugar env, acidic?- live symbiotically wt insects, animals n humans (patho/economically important)

Asexual reproduction - budding - whether polar( non polar/bipolar) or multilateral. Ring of chitin synthesized around area where bud will extrude. New bud forced out from plastixised cell wall. separation of the bud from the parent leaves scar. When chains of yeast cells do not fully separated, thi can create a pseudo-mycelium (perlu ke nak trg maksud p-mycelium?)

contoh yeast yg x bley blah- candida albicans. Some other asexual reproduction for yeast are binary fission, ballistospores.

Now let me go to major classes of fungi (kuar exam nie dol:P)

Zygomycetes:
eg die mucor spp. n rhizopus spp.
mycellium: coarse, fibrous, spreading mass, non-septate
sexual spores: zygospores
Asexual sp: SPorangiospores

Ascomycetes:
eg: Penicillium, Yeast Aspergillus
mycellium: Fine, Septate, form a discrete colony, some unicellular
Sexual: ascospore
Asex: conidiosphore (spore in chain), yeast also reproduce thru budding n b.fission

Basidiomycetes:
eg: Mushroom n Yeast
mycellium: Fine, septate
Sexual: basidiospores
Asex: no except for yeast, ballostospores

Deuteromycetes:
eg: most human pathogen
mycellium: Fine
Sexual: sikda
Asex: conidia: wide variety of spore n spore bearing structures
